Firepot Indian Rose Garden Tea Review: Beautiful in Every Aspect

December 7, 2015 by Joi Leave a Comment

Firepot Nomadic Teas Indian Rose Garden

Firepot’s Delicous Caffeine Free Indian Rose Garden

I’ve always had a very special place in my heart for roses. My dad was an AVID rose gardener. He had not one, not two, but three big beautiful rose beds. He even coveted my mom’s perennial flower bed for number 4! Luckily for her, her garden got more shade than he deemed appropriate for his beloved roses, so she got to keep it.

Even today, whenever I see or smell a rose, I think back to growing up surrounded by my dad’s beautiful roses. He would have greatly approved of Firepot Nomadic Tea’s Indian Rose Garden.

In fact, it would have been his favorite tea.

I always have a wide assortment of tea on hand – as you’d imagine a “crazy tea chick” would. Decaf, caffeinated, herbal, concentrates, blends, loose leaf, bags, etc. Basically, if there’s a certain tea anyone in our family needs, it’s available at any given time.

Keeping caffeine free tea on hand is as smart as it is delicious. Too much caffeine after 6:00 pm interferes with your sleep, but if you’re like me, forgoing a cup (or two) of evening tea is completely out of the question.

Enter caffeine free tea to save the day.

A Beautiful, Caffeine Free Blend from Firepot Nomadic Teas

You should always keep great quality caffeine free tea on hand to enjoy in the evening. For several reasons, actually. Not only will it keep you from consuming too much caffeine, the warmth of a great cup of tea in the evening actually promotes sleep and can even lead to sweeter sleep.

The process of brewing the tea is relaxing, in and of itself. The fragrance of the tea leaves, the sound of the water washing over them… as I always say, a very large part of the beauty of tea is that it’s an experience to enjoy as much as it is a drink.  Making tea is one of the most relaxing things you can do.

In fact, unless I miss my guess, it’s downright therapeutic. And when it comes to tea, I don’t miss my guesses.

The Picture of Relaxation

What Makes Firepot’s Indian Rose Garden So Special?

I’ve had some loose leaf tea blends that were too “flowery” for my taste. You know the ones – where you’re drinking a cup of tea and keep looking into your tea, convinced that someone threw a marigold into your cup.

Herbs and, for that matter, flowers, should enhance a cup of tea – not dominate it. When all’s said and done, you want to know you’re drinking tea… not tears of flowers. Firepot Nomadic Tea’s Indian Rose Garden blend is just perfect. If someone were to put on a seminar, teaching subtlety when it comes to flavoring teas, they could save themselves a lot of effort simply by serving Indian Rose Garden and saying, “Do thus-ly.”

The Indian Rose Garden blend is everything it should be and nothing it shouldn’t be. The blend is perfection and I wouldn’t change a single thing. The tea’s flavor is delicious, subtle, and unique and it’s “experience” is warm, relaxing, and inviting.

While the box says that you can get 1-2 infusions from a serving, I actually got 3 beautifully. Doesn’t’ it always seem like you’ve gotten away with something when that happens???

INGREDIENTS
Organic: Egyptian chamomile, USA spearmint, Indian rose petals and French lavender

STEEPING DIRECTIONS
Steep 3 teaspoons (2g) of Indian Rose Garden in 1 cup (8oz) of 180° F water for 4 minutes and strain. Makes 1-2 infusions. For 180° F water, boil then let cool 3-5 minutes

It occurs to me that the same passion my dad had for his roses, Firepot has for their teas. And that, fellow tea lovers, is saying all that needs to be said.

Firepot Italian Earl Grey Black Tea Review (Another Winner from Firepot)

November 3, 2015 by Joi Leave a Comment

Firepot Italian Earl Grey Black Tea
Any tea lover knows that drinking tea isn’t just about quenching your thirst.  It’s not just about enjoying a delicious flavor or reaping the many health benefits that come with each sip.

Drinking tea is more about an experience than anything else. Do the above benefits ride along with each cup? You bet your teapot they do, but take the Crazy Tea Chick’s word for it, tea is more than a beautiful drink… it’s a beautiful experience.

So, with that in mind, ask yourself, “Am I allowing myself to have as many varied experiences that tea would allow me to have or am I having the same limited experiences I’m permitting myself to have?”

Tough question. After all, we are pretty much creatures of habit, aren’t we?  Most of us order the same drinks each time at Starbucks (for me, it’s a Chai Tea Latte if it’s cold and a Green Tea Frapp if it’s hot). We generally favor the same restaurants and often even order the same meal each time.

Creatures. Of. Habit.

When it comes to brewing and enjoying tea, however, there are simply too many delicious options to pin yourself down to the same old tea each and every time. You could conceivably have a different type of tea each morning for an entire month, while enjoying a different one each evening.

I’ve been enjoying (understatement of all understatements) Firepot Nomadic Teas and have fallen completely in love with the complexities and personalities of each of the different teas.  Even after a lifetime of obsessing over tea, I’m still learning about different kinds of tea, different steeping preferences of individual teas, and (most importantly) the different experiences each tea creates.

In the same way wine drinkers prefer a certain wine with a certain meal, there are actually certain teas that compliment certain moments.

I enjoy a hot cup of green tea or herbal tea most in the evening – when my tea cup and I are bringing the day to a close. It’s relaxing, peaceful, and downright cozy.

When it comes to the day’s early hours, I prefer cups of tea with more energy and pizzazz – Earl Grey,  Lady Grey, Firepot Breakfast Tea,  etc. Teas that serve as rally cries for my get up and go.

These are the teas I turn to right up to suppertime. I’ve found a new favorite that I’ve thrown into the mix and you see it pictured here. This beautiful tea is Firepot Nomadic Tea’s Italian Grey Black Tea and he’s quite special.

Earl Grey tea has always struck me as an especially wonderful tea. There’s a hint of a peppery flavor that, if we’re being  honest, I kinda live for.

Having said that, until I tried Firepot’s Italian Earl Grey Black Tea, I’d never been able to bring myself to drinking it black. I’d always mix it with warm milk and a little sugar and drink it as a type of Chai Tea Latte… without the Chai.

If you’ve never had an Earl Grey tea made this way, do it.. it’s spectacular.

However, I knew I’d be reviewing the  Italian Earl Grey Black Tea, so I wanted to try it both in a latte and black. After the first sip, I realized that I had no idea Earl Grey tea could be so completely and utterly delicious on its own without its co-stars milk and sugar.

Fact is, Firepot Italian Earl Grey Tea doesn’t need a supporting cast. It’s a beautiful tea experience all by itself.

If you’re accustomed to pretty much the same old tea (methods of brewing, types of tea, brands of tea…), do yourself a huge favor and open up a whole new world of possibili -teas…

I whole-heartedly recommend any and all of the Firepot Nomadic Teas – and this wonderful Italian Earl Grey should be one of the first you try. It makes a fantastic cup of tea, all on its own but it also makes the best Earl Grey Latte I’ve ever had.

You’ll be seeing plenty more Firepot reviews here on Crazy Tea Chick soon. In the meantime, be sure to check out the ones I’ve done to date:

Firepot Breakfast Black Tea Review

Firepot Nomadic Teas
Firepot Nomadic Teas: Breakfast Tea

I’m currently trying to break a lifelong addiction and it’s been about as easy as pulling teeth from a silverback gorilla. Sweet Tea and I have been together a long time and saying goodbye is anything but easy.  Ever since I discovered that my “innocent” glass of sweet tea has as many calories as a glass of Coke, I’ve tried to drink all of my tea unsweetened.

Fortunately, I’ve figured something out. If you brew and drink really good tea, you don’t miss the sugar.

At all.

As you may know, I’m not just a “crazy tea chick,” I’m also a “crazy coffee chick” – I just don’t have the website to prove it. Kaldi’s Coffee is, I guess, what you’d have to call my “go to” coffee.  You know, the brand you grab when you want your coffee to be on its very best behavior.  In fact, my favorite coffee in the world is Kaldi’s Birds and Bees Blend.  Sorry, Starbucks, but that’s just the facts of life.

When I read that Kaldi’s now sells Firepot Nomadic Teas, I knew I needed to try them immediately. If Kaldi’s believes Firepot Teas are wonderful enough to sell on their website and in their shops,  that tells me all I need to know.

Firepot Nomadic Teas

Firepot Teas include a couple of wonderful Chai Teas (Chai tea lattes are one of the reasons I get out of bed each morning) as well as a beautiful line of loose leaf teas.

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be reviewing each of these beautiful teas on Crazy Tea Chick. But first, I’d like to introduce you to Firepot Nomadic Teas.

Remember the first time you ever had a really good cup of coffee? The first time you tasted artisan bread or a great bottle of estate grown wine? You instinctively knew that you were experiencing something more wholesome and real.

This is the experience of Firepot Nomadic Teas. We offer teas so extraordinary that they change the way you think about tea! We delight in sharing the discovery of unforgettable teas with our customers, our tribe. – Firepot Nomadic Teas (Click the link to read more of their story)

The first Firepot tea I chose to brew was Firepot Breakfast Tea.  I loved it so much it’s also the one I brewed second.

And third.

Black tea is a beautiful thing, and when the blend is as beautiful and delicious as the Breakfast Black Tea blend from Firepot, you actually find that “beautiful thing” is an understatement.  Simply put, it’s what a cup of tea should taste like.

Firepot Breakfast Tea will make you fall in love with Black Tea all over again.

From the Back of the Box:

Some say that it was just one cup of a uniquely bold and brisk tea served to Queen Victoria at Scotland’s Balmoral Castle that spurred her love affair with this style of tea. Our classic English Breakfast blend combines a rich, malty SFTGFOP (Super Fine Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) tea from Assam with golden Ceylon Pekoe from Sri Lanka’s famed Uva region. This noble tea can stand alone, but also pairs well with milk and sugar.

I’ve enjoyed this Breakfast blend hot as well as iced and honestly can’t decide which I prefer. They’re both exceptional.  Served hot or cold, the tea doesn’t need one single grain of sugar. Served hot, I love a little honey to sweeten the deal and, because I’m all about presentation, I often float a little slice of lemon or orange in my cup.

I’m fancy like that.

Steeping Directions:

Steep 2 teaspoons of Firepot Breakfast in 1 cup (8oz) of 205° F water for 4 minutes and strain. Makes 1-2 infusions. For 205° F water, boil then let cool 1 minute.

I’ve gotten 2 perfect infusions each time I’ve made Firepot Breakfast.
