Now let me be clear: I love Panera Bread Company’s iced green tea. It’s uber-delicious (some people still say uber, don’t judge me), it’s refreshing, and it’s tasty as can be. It just doesn’t taste at all like green tea. At all, at all.
I’m not calling the company a liar – I frankly have no idea what goes into this drink, and I’ll probably never know. I personally think, as do several people I’ve talked to about this, that it taste more like an apple-flavored iced drink, like apple Kool-aid. And it’s possible that there is a green tea base to the drink, which is just overwhelmed with other flavors and tons of sugar.
In my opinion, if you’re wanting that earthy strong awesomeness of green tea, then that’s what you should order. If you want a delicious summer drink to quench your thirst and you have no tea expectations whatsoever, drink up!
