Starbucks Green Tea Frappuccino With Whipped Topping and Raspberry Syrup on Top

May 5, 2015 by Joi Leave a Comment

Starbucks Green Tea Frappuccino

I am as big a fan of Starbucks as you’ll ever find. In fact, every member of my family know the “right” thing to get me for Christmas, Mother’s Day, or my birthday is a Starbucks gift card.  One Christmas I racked up 5 and I was in caffeinated bliss for weeks.

The crazy thing is, I never… seriously, never…. order coffee at Starbucks. In the cooler months, I always get a Chai Tea Latte or hot black tea and in the warmer months, my Baristas know exactly what’s coming out of my mouth, “Grande Green Tea Frappuccino with Whipped Topping and Raspberry Syrup on Top.”

It’s absolute perfection and I’m as associated with this drink as Cookie Monster is cookies.  I, admittedly, get as worked up as he does for the object of my affection to.

Years ago, I began ordering the Green Tea Frappe “straight up,” without whipped topping or anything. Honestly, it’s absolutely delicious like that too and sometimes I still order it without the frills. However, I’ve found that a little whipped topping, followed by raspberry syrup on top creates such an incredible work of delicious art that I even dream about it.

Honest.

When you order this masterpiece, you have to be sure to specify, “raspberry syrup on top” plainly or you’ll get it mixed in with the green tea frappe, itself. That’s happened to me before and, while it’s still delicious, it’s just not the same magical drink as you see pictured here.  Without the whipped topping and Raspberry syrup, it’s more like a delicious green tea smootie… add the other two and what you have is Heaven in a plastic cup.

This one’s a real head-turner and tastes even better than it looks.

Starbucks Passion Tea: Now it’s Just Showing Off

Starbucks Passion Tea with Strawberry

A few days ago I was in my element – after grocery shopping in my favorite Kroger, I visited the Starbucks in the front of the store.  I still can’t believe they built one of my greatest loves inside one of my other greatest loves.  Sigh. God loves me.

The workers all know me – how could they not, they see me daily? However, this particular day found me face to face with a newbie.   I felt like a major league baseball player staring intimidatingly at a rookie pitcher on the mound….. Go ahead, impress me.

The new guy was adorable – probably all of 17 years old, if not younger.  He sensed my Starbucks guru status, so he was a little nervous. Who could blame him?  I went easy on him (I thought) and ordered a Passion Tea Lemonade. Passion Tea Lemonade and summer were made for one another – if you’ve never tried it before, you HAVE to as soon as possible.

As luck would have it for the new kid on the clock, he found the lemonade container empty.  He looked around nervously and even picked up a walkie talkie looking thing like he was going to call for back up.  I purred, “It’s okay, honey, I can just take it straight.”  We call everyone honey in the south.

Then, my little cowpoke straightened up and said, “I can flavor it with strawberry instead.”   I was so impressed with him thinking on his feet like that, I naturally said, “That sounds wonderful.  I love strawberry!”

In the parking log, I took a sip.  Then another. Then another.  I had planned to bring the drink home and photograph it for a tea review on the blog.  I mean, in more proof of God’s love for me, we live within 3 minutes of Kroger/Starbucks.  As you can see from the picture above, the exceptional tea nearly didn’t make it.   I’m pretty sure I’ll order it this way from now on.  It was so amazing – with all the strawberry flavor of a smoothie, without all the calories.

Try it, you’ll want to marry it.

Passionate About Passion Tea. (Cheesy, much?)

January 17, 2011 by Emily 1 Comment

Crazy Tea Chick with her Starbucks Iced Passion TeaWhen I’m not online or drinking tea (which equals not very often), I work full-time in our county’s school system.

Today is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, aka, a holiday from work (silent cheer!). So where would a day off such as this find me?

Starbucks, of course.

I grabbed a Cold Cut from Subway and rushed over to Starbucks for the biggest iced passion tea they have….for now. As you may have heard, Starbucks is introducing an even LARGER size for their cold drinks within the next few months…the trenta.

Oh, heck yes!

However, until I can figuratively (and literally?) carry a bucket of passion tea out of the store, the Venti size will do just fine.

My favorite two teas the Bucks offers are the green tea and the passion tea, but since my cabinets are full (full, I tell you!) of green tea bags and varieties, I went with the latter.

I remember the first time I tried the passion tea, I so eloquently said, “Wow, it tastes like I’m drinking a flower….and I like it.”

And, so began a quite beautiful relationship. 🙂

(P.S…..GO PACKERS!)
