Raving Tea Review: Lipton’s Berry Hibiscus

March 2, 2016 by Joi

Lipton Berry Hibiscus

I read something once that made me howl with laughter – someone intimated that “all” tea bloggers were snobby and high-brow.

Puh-lease. I’d have an impossible time being either high-brow OR snobby in any area of my life and if I were to start – I’m pretty sure I’d start with make-up and work my way up to tea.

Bottom line: I am not a tea snob nor will I ever be. I don’t maintain that “whole leaf tea” is the only tea – far from it. I drink as much store-bought tea from tea bags as I do whole leaf tea.

That’s right. There, I said it.

Companies like Lipton, Luzianne, Tazo, and Celestial Seasonings are household names in my kitchen and each one makes my life as a “Crazy Tea Chick” more delicious and enjoyable.

When any of them come out with a new tea, I throw it in my cart with speed Flash would envy.  Recently, Lipton came out with several new beauties and the one you see pictured here was the first one I tried. They had me at Hibiscus.

One of my favorite drinks at Starbucks is the Very Berry Hibiscus. Can you say obsessed? When I saw the words “Berry” and “Hibiscus” on this box, my first thought was, “Very Berry Hibiscus meets tea?! Sign me the heck up.”

I knew it’d be amazing, but I had no idea just how amazing it’d be.

The color of the tea is as gorgeous as the flavor is delicious. The day that I bought this tea was an impossibly cold day, so I came right home and made a hot cup of Berry Hibiscus tea. As I’ve admitted numerous times on the tea blog, I have a big problem with sugar.

Actually, let’s not get it twisted – I have a big problem WITHOUT sugar. Yes, I drink sweet tea and, yes, I claim the right to do so due to my Southern heritage. However, as often as possible, I like to enjoy my tea unsweetened, due to the fact sugar comes to the party covered in calories.  So when I find a tea that’s filled with so much great flavor and hits me between the eyes with so much flavor that EVEN I don’t need to sweeten it, it is a momentous occasion.

Lipton’s Berry Hibiscus passed the test with beautiful flying pink colors.  I never even considered reaching for the sugar bowl.

The real test came, however, a few days later when I decided to try it iced.  Another test.. another pass.  Seriously, this tea is simply outstanding. It’s refreshing, flavorful, and 100 percent delicious.

Without a single grain of sugar!

When doing tea reviews, I love to be able to say whether I prefer the tea iced or hot, but in this case I can’t possibly say.  It all depends on my mood, time of day, and whether I’ve caught a chill or not.

Bottom line, this is an outstanding tea and I know you’ll love it as much as I do. Look for it in your favorite grocery or department store.

Lipton Herbal Pyramid Tea Bags: Orange Blossom Hibiscus (Review)

Lipton Orange Blossom Hibiscus Tea

Lipton Orange Blossom Hibiscus Tea: Beautifully Delicious!

I had read some reviews for Lipton’s Orange Blossom Hibiscus a while back and was anxious to try it for myself.  Even though most of the reviews said there wasn’t much flavor, I knew Lipton’s line of “Pyramid” teas well enough to know this couldn’t really be the case. Lipton and “not much flavor” don’t add up – so I went ahead with my pans to try it for myself.

After one sip, I had to ask my cat (as she was the only one around at the time), “What flavor were these reviewers expecting?!”  There is a wonderful flavor that, I would think, would be impossible to miss.  It isn’t a flavor that will hit you in the face and spin your head around – like so many artificial flavors on the market.  I honestly think it’s these cursed evils that cause people to sometimes quip, “… not much flavor..”  Compared to the artificial flavors and sweeteners people have become so accustomed to, sometimes a lovely subtle flavor causes them to think there’s no flavor at all.

Buggers.

Like all of Lipton’s Pyramid bag teas, the experience begins the minute you look at the bag. You can see the orange and the hibiscus (which has been proven to be wonderful for high blood pressure, by the way) alongside the tea leaves and you can most certainly smell them.

When I first tried this beautiful tea, I used one bag for a cup of hot tea. It was fantastic.  The next time, I used two bags and it was (of course) stronger and just as wonderful.  For anyone who enjoys their tea’s flavors to appear “up front,” two bags is the way to go.  I, however, prefer for the flavors to be subtly in the “background,” with the tea up front where it belongs.

This tea is also great served over ice – especially with a slice of orange floating on top.

It’s caffeine free, which means it’s ideal for a late evening cup of tea.  It’s a beautiful way to bring your day to a close.

You can buy Lipton Herbal Pyramid Tea Bags, Orange Blossom Hibiscus, 18 Count on Amazon at a GREAT deal. Click through for information.

I 100 percent recommend all of Lipton’s “Pyramid Bag” Teas.  By the way, do you know the reason for the pyramid shaped bags? Not only are they super cool looking, but the pyramid-shaped bags allow the herbs and fruit pieces to flow freely for full flavor and full aroma.

I haven’t had one of these Lipton teas yet that didn’t reaffirm my Crazy Tea Chick status. See Lipton Herbal Pyramid Tea Bags for different varities or click through the slideshow below (certain mobile devices will not show the slideshow, so just use the link!).

Lipton’s Bavarian Wild Berry Black Tea: Strong, Fruity, Rich

March 25, 2012 by Emily 1 Comment

I’ve been drinking a lot of “berry” teas lately…I think subconsciously I’m getting myself ready for the fruity tastes and smells of late spring and summer. 🙂 Most of the berry teas I’ve ever had have been herbal teas, without an actual “tea” basis, just brewed herbs and leaves with fruit flavoring. However, if you’re more into actual tea leaves, and a stronger taste, I’ve found the right berry tea for you: Lipton’s Bavarian Wild Berry Black Tea.

This is a flavored black tea made with pieces of real berries, packaged nicely in Lipton’s awesome little pyramid bags. (I love the pyramid bags – you can actually see the fruit pieces basically open up after steeping, and the smell and taste are much stronger.) Here’s the tea’s official ingredient list: Black tea, dried apple pieces, rose hip peel, chicory root, cinnamon bark, licorice root, modified corn starch, natural flavor, dried blackberry pieces, dried black currant pieces, ginger root, orange peel, dried blueberry pieces, dried raspberry pieces. That’s a lot of fruit pieces, people. The fruit never overwhelms the black tea though – the strong black tea is just as easy to taste as all of the wonderful fruit.

I haven’t tried the tea iced yet, but I’m guessing that like most teas, it tastes even better hot. I let my bag steep for 3-4 minutes in boiling water. Each bag has 80 mg of Flavonoids per serving (that’s a good thing), and 20 mg of caffeine per serving.

Final say: The tea smells fantastic, and tastes just as good – this one’s a must-try.

Lipton’s Blueberry and Pomegranate White Tea

August 30, 2011 by Emily Leave a Comment

I’m so crazy about Lipton’s Pyramid Tea Bags. I love that the tea leaves have room to spread in the bag to release their flavor; I love that I can see exactly what the leaves look like; I love that the box always smells amazing when I open it. So yeah, big fan here.

Lipton’s Blueberry & Pomegranate White Tea is quite a treat. As someone who has never eaten pomegranate by itself, per se, I can’t really drink this and say, “Oooh, this tastes just like the last pomegranate I ate!” However, I love blueberries and I can definitely identify that taste in this tea. The tea bags actually contain real pieces of blueberries, which ends up making this tea taste and smell like some sort of decadent dessert or treat as opposed to just white tea.

The tea’s ingredients list dried apples, which I had identified by smell before reading the list. It also contains blackberry and raspberry fruit pieces, green tea, cinnamon bark, and orange peel, among other natural things. Seriously, though, sounds like an ingredient list for a pastry or yummy treat.

This tea packs 65mg per serving of body-protecting flavonoid antioxidants, 20mg of potassium, and 25mg of caffeine per serving. Just pour boiling water over a tea bag and let steep for around 2-4 minutes (your preference), and enjoy!

Lipton’s Island Mango and Peach White Tea

August 21, 2011 by Emily Leave a Comment

Confession: I’m a sucker for any product that has “island” in the title. I pretty much live for my annual beach vacation, and those marketing people know where to hit suckers like me. But this tea could be called “XYZ Tea” and it would still be one of the best teas I’ve ever had. Seriously, Lipton’s Island Mango and Peach tea is good.

For starters, the tea comes in pyramid-shaped bags, which allows the leaves a lot more room to spread, allowing for a smooth, rich flavor to flow into the cup. The leaves are infused with actual pieces of fruit, which gives the tea a REAL fruit taste – something authentic – as opposed to the flat flavor found in a lot of “fruity teas”. The box comes with 18 of these bags, and each bag packs 75mg of flavonoids per oz. serving. Ahhh, the healthy deliciousness of this tea.

This is technically a white tea, although the ingredients also lists green tea, along with rose hips, lemon grass, orange leaves, and a few other natural ingredients. I always drink this tea hot – the scent is pretty killer – but it also makes a great iced tea.

This is one of my favorite teas and one that I always make sure is in my cabinet. I recommend it for anyone that loves white tea, green tea, fruit tea, herbal tea, orange or peach tea, healthy and nutritious drinks…or has a pulse. That means you, buddy.

Lipton Mandarin Orange Green Tea: Excellent!

July 27, 2011 by Joi Leave a Comment

Lipton Green Tea Mandarin OrangeLipton’s Mandarin Orange Green Tea… Heavenly!

Green tea is a personal favorite of mine. Given the fact that it’s a disease fighting ninja – I wish it were a favorite with everyone.  My oldest daughter (Emily, aka, the Crazy Tea Chick, herself) is also a green tea fanatic and my husband will drink it if it’s cold (picky pockets).  My youngest daughter, Stephany, only likes Matcha Green Tea (prissy diva).  The rest of the family shuns green tea the way I shun liver.  Well, maybe not to that extent.

If more people would give it a try, they’d realize that green tea is the elixir of the gods – especially with a little honey or fruity flavor.

Lipton’s Mandarin Orange Green Tea (shown above) is outstanding.  I would have shared it with the members of my family but… well… I drank it all.

In just three days.

I guess it goes without saying that this tea is exceptional, but I’ll go ahead and say it anyway. It’s exceptional. Whether you already love green tea or are warming up to it, you’ll love Lipton’s Mandarin Orange Green Tea.  The orange flavoring is just perfect – it isn’t overwhelming but you get that distinct and delicious mandarin flavor. I drink it throughout the day (yes, all three of them).  In the evening, I like a couple of hot mugs of tea while watching baseball with my husband.  During the day, while working at home as a web publisher, I prefer my green tea on ice. When feeling particularly feisty (usually on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays – my feisty days), I”ll float an orange wedge in the glass.  This morning, I added a little mint from my herb garden. Lovely.

The next time you’re in the store, find Lipton’s Mandarin Orange Green Tea and give it a try.  I know you’ll love it.

The beautiful mug in the picture above was given to me recently from Stephany (the prissy little diva) and her boyfriend Rusty (neither prissy or a diva).  They picked it up for me at TJ Maxx and brought it home to me as a surprise. Yay, surprises!   The mug is gorgeous – very thick and heavy and obviously very well-made.  Love it.

I happened to notice, recently, that TJ Maxx carries some gorgeous mugs as well as a large selection of tea.  TJ Maxx is more than just clothes and handbags… oh, but don’t even get me started on their handbags!
