Review: Adagio Teas’ Masala Chai Tea (Loose Leaf)… WOW!

November 29, 2016 by Joi Leave a Comment

Adagio Tea's Masala Chai Tea (Latte)
Slurp, Indeed.
In a recent Adagio Teas order, I got to choose a free sample and, being the Chai Tea Latte FANATIC that I am, I went with Masala Chai Tea (loose leaf). Knowing Adagio the way I do, I knew it would be extra special (since every tea they make is outstanding) – and the thought of an extra special Masala Chai made into a Chai latte filled me with unspeakable happiness.

Like all fanatics, I can recall the exact day I became obsessed with Chai Tea Lattes. It was over 10 years ago… on a Saturday afternoon. It was the middle of winter and my husband and I had gone to a local coffee house for liquid warmth. As a Crazy Tea Chick, my hot drinks of choice in coffee houses are almost always tea. This time, instead of a hot black or green tea, I decided to try a Chai Tea Latte…. and my life was never quite the same.

To this day, my winter “go to” drink in all coffee houses is a Chai Tea Latte. My summer “go to” alternates between iced black tea, green tea frapps, and a Starbucks fixation, Strawbery Acai Refresher.

My winter drink does not alternate. Ever.  Naturally, I make my own Chai Tea Lattes at home (can you say daily?) as well.  I normally use my Breville Cafe’ Milk Frother (an absolute must if you enjoy lattes, coffee or tea) but a blender will certainly do the trick.

I made up a pot of the Masala Chai as soon as it arrived. As soon as I opened the pouch, I knew it was going to be a great afternoon. The aroma was unspeakably beautiful – I realized right away that most Masala Chai loose leaf tea doesn’t measure up when it comes to this aroma.

{Review Continued Below….}

Adagio Tea's Masala Chai Tea (Loose Leaf)
When making lattes at home, I always brew the tea stronger than normal. This makes the latte a real work of art. I add equal parts brewed tea and milk (any type – coconut milk from a can is AMAZING with Chai tea… AMAZING) to the Breville Cafe’ Milk Frother (or blender) and turn it on.

After you’ve poured the deliciousness in your cup, taste it to see how much (if any) sugar you want to add to sweeten the deal. More times than not, I will add a little whipped topping to the top instead of adding any sugar.

Another decadent treat is to stir the latte with a cinnamon stick. As luck would have it, I was all out of cinnamon sticks… so I just dove in without any frills.

Phenomenal. Seriously. Adagio Tea’s Masala Chai Tea makes one of the best Chai Tea Lattes I have ever had – and, believe me, I have had gazillions.

Confession – I normally use Tazo’s Chai Tea Latte Concentrate when making Chai Tea Lattes at home. It gives me that strong, addictive, utterly beautiful Chai Tea Latte experience I live by and, quite frankly, I’ve found very few Chai Tea loose leaf teas that can hang with Tazo’s concentrate.

Adagio’s Masala Chai (loose leaf) was more than up for the challenge and it blew me straight away. The concentrate has nothing on this beautiful tea.  If you love Chai Tea Lattes, like me, or have never experienced one on your own… this is the Chai Tea for you. Trust me – if there’s one thing this Crazy Tea Chick knows, you’re looking at it below.

Find the Masala Chai and other Chai Teas on Adagio Tea’s website. Trust me, you won’t be sorry – these people know their tea like few people could ever hope to.

Review: Firepot’s Masala Chai Loose Leaf Makes Legendary Chai Tea Lattes

January 19, 2016 by Joi

Firepot Masala Loose Leaf Chai Tea

Firepot’s Masala Chai Loose Leaf

I’ll never forget my first Chai Tea Latte. It was an especially cold winter evening, about 10 years ago. We were at a local coffeehouse here in Owensboro and I wanted to try something different. Little did I know that what began as something “different” would immediately become a complete obsession. I have ordered Chai Tea Lattes in countless coffeehouses since that fateful evening and make Chai Tea Lattes daily in my own home.

Cookie Monster has his cookies and I have my Chai Tea Lattes – with similar emoting.

Well, come to think of it, I put him to shame.

I have used Tazo concentrate, Firepot concentrates and Chai Tea from Jaipur over the years and have nothing but wonderful things to say about each.  Recently, I made Chai Tea Lattes (for the first time) using Loose Leaf Chai Tea. The process was simple and the latte was out of this world delicious.  I used Firepot Tea’s Masala Chai Loose Leaf and discovered that, like everything else Firepot makes, it’s phenomenal.

The flavor is bold, beautiful, spicy, and completely unforgettable.

Whenever I write any of my reviews (whether I’m reviewing restaurants, tea, coffee, gluten free food, or books), I always try to remember my first thought and, when applicable, first words.

Here comes the Cookie Monster level emoting…

I doubled the recipe printed on the container and filled my much loved “Dutch Girl” ceramic pot. After pouring myself a cup, I settled into my favorite chair and took my first sip. The first thought and the first words were the same, “OH MY….” These were followed by countless sips from the same cup, several treks to and from the ceramic pot to the chair, and many blissful thoughts about Chai Tea Lattes and the respect shown to them by Firepot.

I may or may not have asked God to bless everyone involved with Firepot above and beyond expectations.

Firepot Masala Loose Leaf Chai Tea
At one point… I believe it was during cup number 3… I let out an “Mmmmmm” noise that sounded like a lawnmower that was a little too excited about the return of lawn mowing season.

Whether you’re already a Chai Tea Latte fan or are actually new to the world of Chai Tea, you will definitely want to head over to Firepot Nomadic Tea and grab your own Masala Loose Leaf Chai Tea. The container makes up to 34 cups of tea that will blow you completely away – each and every time.

The first time you make your tea, all you need is a mesh strainer, pan, and cup. Subsequent times you’ll want a pot. Trust me.

“Mmmmmm” – Crazy Tea Chick

Preparation: Boil 1-2 teaspoons of Firepot Chai with ½ cup milk and ½ cup water. Remove from heat and steep for 5 minutes. Strain into a mug and add 2 teaspoons of sugar or other sweetener. Stir and enjoy the subtly sweet, transporting taste of real Chai!

Review: Firepot Nomadic Teas Rooibos Chai Tea Concentrate

Firepot Nomadic Teas Rooibos Chai Tea Latte

Firepot Nomadic Teas  Delicious Rooibos Chai Tea Latte

It’s not easy for a Crazy Tea Chick to admit that there’s actually a tea she isn’t perfectly crazy about. And yet… well… Rooibos tea and I don’t have a very good history. Throughout my tea-obsessed years, I’ve tried Rooibos tea – each time ordering myself to fall in love with it.

Alas, not a single spark ever flew. Heck, I never had one even begin to kindle.

Me… the Crazy Tea Chick who loves black, green, and white tea like they’re members of the family. Me.. the one who orders a tea-based drink each and every time she’s in Starbucks. Me.. the nut with not one, not two, not three, but FOUR shelves devoted to tea in her kitchen.

It has always bugged me that there is actually a tea I’d have to warm up to in order to even reach “lukewarm.”

On the other hand, I am (without a single doubt) the biggest Chai Tea Latte lover in the world. Obsessed doesn’t cut it and fanatical doesn’t even come close.

So, here was a dilemma recently presented to me: Rooibos Chai Tea Concentrate from Firepot Nomadic Teas! When I picked the bottle of concentrate up, I kind of felt like I had one little devil on one shoulder and one little angel on the other. While I’m sure Rooibos never did anything to earn such an association, it is what it is.

I’ve been so blown away by every Firepot Nomadic Tea I’ve tried that I held my breath – not wanting one to break the streak, yet fearing that if one WERE to break the streak, he’d answer to the name Rooibos.

v
Firepot Rooibos Chai Tea Concentrate

Naturally, I used my Breville Milk Café Milk Frother to make my Rooibos Chai Tea Latte. Simply pour in equal parts of the concentrate and milk (skim, lactose free, whole milk… your choice) and push the button.

While it worked its magic, I tried to tame the doubts but my brain just kept trying to process the unlikeliest of pairings.  In fact, the Eagles classic “Hotel California” started playing in my head, “This could be Heaven or this could be Hell…”

Finally. The moment of truth.

My first thought was literally, “You have no right to be this delicious.”  And, yes, as a matter of fact, I do talk to inanimate objects. All the time.

They don’t judge, counter, or rebuff.

From Firepot Nomadic Teas:

Inspired by an ancient recipe from Northern India, our masala chai (meaning spiced tea) has won the hearts and captured the tastebuds of Firepot devotees for almost two decades. Our exotic and aromatic spices are hand-blended and freshly ground for a uniquely vivid and balanced taste. Firepot Rooibos Chai is brewed with South Africa’s mineral and nutrient-rich herb, making our popular chai recipe caffeine-free.  {Continue Reading…}

The Firepot Rooibos Chai Tea is just ridiculously delicious. While I do, personally, think the Firepot Masala Chai Tea (click for my review of this beauty) is EVEN better, I am wild about the Rooibos Chai Tea. There is a uniqueness to it that floats my boat and I totally recommend it to anyone who loves lattes – whether or not you’re into Rooibos or not.

If you do happen to love Rooibos… why are you still reading?!?! Go order a bottle right now!

As for me, I believe I’ll have a nice warm cup of it right now.

I have to admit it, Firepot’s Rooibos Chai Tea has inspired me to renew my search for a great Rooibos Tea. There may be hope for us.

Firepot Masala Chai Tea Concentrate Review (Delicious!)

October 27, 2015 by Joi 2 Comments

Firepot Masala Chai Tea Latte

Firepot Masala Chai Spiced Black Tea Concentrate

I’d hate to think of living in a world without Chai Tea Lattes, but having said that, a bad Chai Tea Latte makes me want to curl up in a corner and cry.

I’m nothing if not dramatic.

While finding a truly great Chai Tea Latte in coffeehouses can, itself, prove challenging, making one at home can be almost impossible. Fortunately, there are a few concentrates out there that actually “get it.”  They understand that a Chai Tea latte should taste exotic and distinct.  They “get” that one sip should take your taste buds to a beautiful far away land and they “get” that drinking a chai tea latte should be an experience. A very special experience.

Did I ever tell you I was obsessed with Chai Tea Lattes?

Firepot Nomadic Tea “gets” Chai Tea and Chai Tea Lattes as well as anyone could possibly get them.

I made my first Chai Tea Latte using Firepot’s Masala Chai Tea concentrate yesterday. By the time I made one this afternoon, it was my third. You could say I kinda freaking love them to the point of wanting to buy a new cat just so I can name him Firepot.

If, like the Crazy Tea Chick, you experiment with a lot of different Chai Teas and Chai Tea Lattes, you know that – like people –  each has its own distinct personality.

You’re also well aware that – again like people! – some personalities are more pronounced and agreeable than others.

I recently had a Chai Tea Latte in a beautiful little coffee house that was totally devoid of a personality. Reminded me of some people I’ve met. I vowed to avoid their Chai Tea Lattes in the future like I avoid the people it reminded me of.

Firepot’s Masala Chai Tea, by contrast, is loaded with personality. If it were a human, it’d be the life of the party.

Firepot Masala Chai Tea Concentrate and Latte

Firepot Masala Chai Tea Concentrate and Latte

Why the Crazy Tea Chick is ALL About Chai Tea Lattes:

When I go to coffeehouses, I almost always order a tea-related drink. I guess that’s the sort of thing you’d expect from a Crazy Tea Chick, right? But there are more methods behind my madness than just being obsessed with tea.

  1. I live with my own personal barista/coffee expert. My husband, in a stroke of beautiful luck for me, has a couple of hobbies he’s especially passionate about. Coffee is one of them.  While I don’t benefit from his love of golf, I benefit daily from his great knowledge of and appreciation for coffee. He brews our coffee each day (with various methods he selects for each coffee bean).  So… you know… why bother ordering coffee if great coffee is already part of your daily routine?
  2. As someone with asthma, I’ve found that a piping hot Chai Tea Latte almost always clears me up when I’m having trouble breathing. I just make a Chai Tea Latte and normal breathing is restored by the time I finish my cup.
  3. I’m one of those annoying cold natured people who seldom think the heat can possibly be set high enough. If I’m not toasty, I’m not convinced it’s warm enough.  Chai Tea Lattes actually warm you up from the inside out.  Try one on the next really cold day. I promise you, you’ll feel like you’re sitting beside a fireplace enjoying a beautiful drink. That’s what I call the Chai Tea Latte experience.

From Firepot Nomadic Tea:

Inspired by an ancient recipe from Northern India, our masala chai (meaning spiced tea) has won the hearts and captured the tastebuds of Firepot devotees for almost two decades. Our exotic and aromatic spices are hand-blended and freshly ground for a uniquely vivid and balanced taste.  Read More….

Making a beautiful, exotic, and insanely flavorful Chai Tea Latte in your own home couldn’t be simpler with Firepot’s Masala Chai Tea Concentrate – you simply combine equal parts of the concentrate and milk (skim, whole, Lactose Free, soy…) in a saucepan and bring them to the desired temperature you’re looking for.

You could, of course, also simply drink the Chai Tea Latte cold.

To add a little loveliness to the production, you could top it off with a small amount of whipped cream or frothed milk.

I actually make all of my Chai Tea Lattes in a Breville Milk Frother (pictured in the sidebar).  I pour in 1 cup of the concentrate and 1 cup of milk, push the button and wait semi-patiently with my cup in hand.

Firepot Masala Chai and Rooibos Concentrates
In a wicked short amount of time, I have a frothy, delicious, piping Chai Tea Latte. And when the Chai Tea is as excellent as Firepot’s is, it’s truly a beautiful thing.  Sometimes I top Chai Tea Lattes off with a little cinnamon or nutmeg. I did so with Firepot’s Masala Chai Tea the first time I made it (pictured in the purple gradient mug). However, by the time I made it the second time, I realized it needed no help from me or my cinnamon or nutmeg, so they stayed in the cabinet.

Firepot Masala Chai Tea is packed with beautiful layers of flavor. Each sip is a total and complete experience and makes me fall in love with Chai Tea Lattes over and over again.

This Chia Tea fanatic strongly urges you to buy a bottle of Firepot’s Masala Chai Tea concentrate and take your taste buds on an exotic excursion. If you’re already a fan of Chai Tea Lattes, you’ll be blown away by the unique flavors Firepot brings to Chai Tea. If you’re new to Chai Tea Lattes, brace yourself – you’re going to have a new obsession.

Tazo Chai Latte Concentrate: Make Starbucks Chai Tea Lattes at Home!

December 27, 2013 by Joi Leave a Comment

Tazo Chai Tea Latte Concentrate

Like all good tea fanatics, when I go to Starbucks, I order tea more often than coffee. In warm weather, I almost always order either iced green, black, or Passion tea or a Green Tea Frappe. In cold weather, I’m like clockwork – it’s a Chai Tea Latte each and every time.

Why the insane loyalty?

  • Chai Tea Lattes are beyond delicious. There’s something extra special about the flavor that Chai Tea brings to the party.
  • Chai Tea warms you up! I’ve always thought people who grab coffee to “warm up” in winter were doing what’s “second best.” The spices in Chai Tea LITERALLY warm you up, inside/out. The next time you have to be out and about on a winter day – drink a Chai Tea Latte first and you’ll see what I mean.
  • I hate to brag, but I have asthma and have all my life.  What can I say, some people just know how to rock and roll. When I was a little (when I was more of a Crazy Chocolate Milk Chick than a Crazy Tea Chick), my Pediatrician told my mom to give me coffee each day. He said it’d help open my bronchial passages and help me breathe easier. Coffee honestly does open you up – whether you have asthma, bronchitis, an upper respiratory infection, allergies or all of the above. About 6 years ago, I discovered something that I’m convinced works EVEN better – Chai Tea Lattes. I had bronchitis at the time (something that causes my asthma to go full tilt psycho) and my husband brought me a hot Chai Tea Latte. Halfway through the deliciousness, I noticed that I was breathing MUCH better and could… egads!… even take a deep breath.  Since then, a Chai Tea Latte is my “go to” drink when breathing isn’t as fluid as I’d like. Heck, it’s my “go to” drink even when it is.

Naturally, you can’t always get to a Starbucks – sometimes they have the audacity to close for the night. Thanks to TAZO (the brand of tea Starbucks uses), you can make your own Chai Tea Lattes at home. The Tazo Chai Tea Latte Concentrate (32 ounce) shown at the top is the stuff dreams are made of.  You simply mix equal amounts of this concentrate and milk (whole milk, 2%, soy… your choice), warm it up in a saucepan, and pour it into a cup. It’s absolutely simple and absolutely delicious. It’s also a better bargain.

Normally, I top off the top with a little frothed milk or whipped topping and a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg. You just would not believe how great it tastes. However, even when I keep it simple as pie – like in the picture above – it’s uncommonly delicious.

Jaipur Avenue Ginger Chai Tea Mix

June 22, 2011 by Joi Leave a Comment

Jaipur Avenue Ginger Chai Tea Mix

If you’ve ever wondered if you could make Chai Tea Lattes at home, Jaipur Avenue has the answer: You Bet You Can!

As I’m writing this out (on paper to type in tomorrow morning), I’m thoroughly enjoying a hot mug of Original Masala Chai Tea from Jaipur Avenue. They sent us several packets of EACH flavor to review, so I can re-experience the wonderful drinks all over again. Jaipur Avenue’s cool like that. Bless them.

The Jaipur Avenue Chai Tea Mix Ginger tea review has a bizarre back story. I intentionally saved the packets marked “Ginger Chai Tea Mix” to review last. Why?

  1. If I didn’t like it, I would feel less guilty about pretending it never happened if I’d already written several positive reviews.
  2. I was afraid it’d be… well, horrid.  Ginger and I have a complex relationship.  It’s like nutmeg – they both smell absolutely Heavenly and (when used properly) they taste heavenly. However, give them an inch and they’ll take a mile and they’ve been known to overpower foods and drinks to the point of tasting… you guessed it, horrid.

The day came for me to taste the Ginger Chai Tea and I further insulted it by varying my routine.  You see, one of the most SPECIAL parts of my day is the evening. After the day’s work,  chores, walking, cooking, and errands are all behind me.  The supper dishes have been washed and the kitchen light’s off.  I’ve found my way into my pajamas and my cat and I find our way to the couch with my husband for a little tv (more times than not, it’s for a St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball game or a UK basketball game).  I always take a cup of hot tea along to help turn the special time into SPECIAL time.

I had enjoyed every other Jaipur Avenue Chai Tea drinks during this SPECIAL time (just as I’m now enjoying the original Masala cup as I write this review).  However, I made the Ginger Chai Tea earlier in the day.

It wasn’t going to muck up my special time!

As my water boils, I open the packet of Ginger Chai Tea Mix and pour it into the mug.

“Hmmmm. It smells really good.”

I double check the package. Yep, it says Ginger.

I pour the boiling water into my mug, stir well to make it nice and frothy.

“Wow. It smells really, really good.”

I take the first sip and my jaw drops.

“Delicious! This tea’s outstanding! I like this as well as I do the Original Masala Chai Tea!”

I double-check the package again.

  • stimulates blood circulation
  • aids digestion

Later that night, I enjoyed the second cup of Ginger Chai tea mix (along with another cup of Jaipur Avenue Chai Tea) during my SPECIAL time.  Twice the tea, twice the special. This is my final review of the Jaipur Avenue Chai Tea Mixes, but I hope you’ll go back and read my other reviews.  This is an extremely high quality product and it will blow you away.  Buy Jaipur Avenue Tea Mixes on Amazon. Personally, I’d buy the Jaipur Avenue Chai Tea Mix Variety, so you can enjoy a trip through the flavor of India as I did, one at a time. Then, when you see what your favorites are (trust me, there’ll be more than one), you can order them specifically.

My first orders will be the Original Masala and Vanilla but I’ll be ordering the other flavors as well… including the Ginger. It is surprisingly delicious.

Jaipur Avenue’s Vanilla Chai Tea Mix: Vanilla Deliciousness

June 21, 2011 by Joi Leave a Comment

Jaipur Avenue Vanilla Chai Tea Mix

My journey through India continued last night… okay, not the actual exotic country, itself, but the FLAVOR of India.  The next flavor I brewed (from the sample pack they sent us to review) was Jaipur Avenue Chai Tea Mix Vanilla .  I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one, actually.  Chai Tea Lattes and the flavor of vanilla are two of my favorite things in this world.  I just wasn’t sure how well they’d play together.  However, I was anxious to find out!

The two flavors don’t fight it out, which is what I expected.  The Chai flavor is, as always, a very generous host to the visiting flavor – in this case Vanilla.  In fact, Chai steps aside almost completely – leaving behind an AMAZING deliciousness that tastes like tea’s version of coffee’s Vanilla Latte.  However, most vanilla lattes don’t have the strong, pure, and “expensive-tasting” vanilla flavor that makes Jaipur Avenue’s Vanilla Chai Tea Mix so exceptional.

Product Features

  • Authentic Indian chai tea spiced with vanilla
  • All-natural ingredients. No preservatives and food additives.
  • Mix contains premium black tea, dry milk powder, a delicate blend of exotic spices, and minimal amount of sugar.
  • Easy to prepare – add hot water for a cup of heartwarming chai, or chilled milk and ice for a cool, refreshing summer drink.
  • A box contains 15 individually packed servings. Each packet makes an 8-ounce cup.

Even if Chai tea, somehow, isn’t your “cup of tea,” you HAVE to try this drink mix.  I work with words all day in our web publishing business, but they’re completely elusive sometimes. No matter where I look, I can’t find the ones I need.  This is one of those times! This is simply outstanding and I wish each and every one of you could try it.  Actually, I wish you could try EACH of Jaipur Avenue’s Chai Tea mixes. I, personally, do food & drink reviews almost daily between this blog and my food blog but it’s been a while since I was excited about a product as I am now.

Benefits of the Herbs found in Jaipur Avenue’s Vanilla Chai Tea Mix:

  • stimulates blood circulation
  • aids digestion
  • relieves cold symptoms
  • lowers risk of colon cancer

Jaipur Avenue Cardamom Chai Tea Mix: Excellent!

June 19, 2011 by Emily Leave a Comment

Jaipur Avenue Cardamom Chai Tea Mix

I had a delicious, aromatic mug of Jaipur Avenue’s Cardamom Chai Tea last night and loved every drop.  It’s right up there with the Original Masala for me (read my review of Jaipur Avenue’s Original Masala Chai Tea Mix). Like the Masala, the Cardamom has the exotic, deliciousness you expect from chai tea.  It may have been a hint sweeter, but if I weren’t looking for a difference, I doubt I would have noticed much of one.  For someone as obsessed with Chai Tea Lattes as I am, this is a GREAT thing!

Product Features

  • Authentic Indian chai tea spiced with cardamom.

Benefits of the herbs found in Jaipur Avenue’s Cardamon Chai Tea Mix:

  • beneficial to kidneys
  • beneficial to lungs
  • beneficial to heart
  • anti-inflammatory
  • aids digestion
  • stimulates metabolism

I’ll have the review of the Vanilla Chai Tea Mix up tomorrow.  I really look forward to this tea, in fact I’m just seconds away from my first taste.

Jaipur Avenue Chai Tea Mix, Make Chai Tea Lattes at Home!

June 18, 2011 by Joi 1 Comment

Jaipur Avenue Chai Tea

I love what I do and I do what I love. That’s the thought that skipped through my mind as I drank a hot mug of Jaipur Avenue Chai Tea.

As a tea review blogger, I have the enviable blessing of testing and reviewing tea. Yay me!  As a result, I was sent a beautiful set of Chai Tea Mixes from Jaipur Avenue.  This was a special thrill for me because I am the biggest fan of Chai Tea Lattes on earth or off.  The Starbucks baristas within a three state radius know me, on site, and know to have a grande Chai Tea Latte waiting for me, with a smile.  Actually, take that back, I don’t care whether they’re smiling or not.

I also really like Panera Bread’s Chai Tea Latte but I have to admit, I tend to get iced green tea when I’m anywhere near Panera.

I’ve tried many times to create my own versions of Chai Tea Lattes at home but they somehow always lack that certain special exotic magic.  Until now, that is.  Jaipur Avenue’s Chai Tea mixes allow you to have Coffeehouse Chai Tea Lattes without stepping foot out of your home.  They’re as fast and easy and boiling water (probably because that’s all that’s involved) and taste so exceptional that you’ll lose yourself completely in each sip.

My set included the following flavors:

  • Original Masala
  • Cardamom
  • Ginger
  • Vanilla
  • Saffron

I’ve only had the Chai mixes a couple of days, so I’ve only (so far!) tried the Original Masala and the Saffron. I’ll give reviews for the other flavors as I try them… as in tonight and tomorrow.

Jaipur Avenue Original Masala

Jaipur Avenue Original Masala Chai Tea Mix

The first chai mix I tried from Jaipur Avenue was the Original Masala. With the name, I assumed this would be the one that tasted most similar to coffeehouse Chai Tea Lattes. I was right, except for one tiny detail – It’s better! The fragrant mixture of cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, and peppercorn had me floating on air before I even tasted it.  After one taste, I was in Chai Tea Heaven and wasn’t sure I ever wanted to return to earth.  When giving reviews, I always like to give the first words that pop into my head, as these are usually the most descriptive and accurate.  After one taste, I thought, “Exotic. Flavorful. Delicious. It tastes like I’m actually in India!”

This is what Chai Tea Lattes are supposed to taste like.

The health benefits of the spices in Original Masala are nearly as impressive as the flavor:

  • stimulates metabolism
  • aids digestion
  • boosts immune system
  • relieves nausea

Original Masala Chai Tea Mix Features

  • Authentic Indian chai tea spiced with vanilla
  • All-natural ingredients. No preservatives and food additives.

Jaipur Avenue Saffron Chai Tea Mix

Jaipur Avenue Saffron Chai Tea Mix

I’ll be honest, I was a little leery of the word Saffron and wasn’t sure what to expect from this particular Chai Tea Mix. However, the Original Masala blew me away so completely that I was confident enough to try one of its friends.  The Saffron Chai Tea Mix has the similar exotic flavor and intense deliciousness of the original.  It’s outstanding!  The main difference I noticed was that the Saffron Chai Tea seemed a little bit sweeter and had a distinct extra flavor that my mind processed as “pretty.”  Strange description, I know, but truth be told my mind can often be a strange playground.  I honestly love the Saffron, almost as much as I do the Original Masala.

The Saffron Chai Tea Mix has less of a “Chai” flavor than the original, or than any Chai teas I’ve had.  It would be ideal for anyone who isn’t into Chai (you know who you are, Emily).

About Jaipur Avenue

Since ancient times, chai has been a daily tradition shared with friends and family all over India.  Served any time of the day, this freshly brewed blend of black tea, milk, and exotic spices is the perfect beverage to soothe your soul and refresh your mind.

The faraway Indian city of Jaipur, famous for its royal palaces, colorful culture and romantic charm, epitomizes the ancient chai tradition at its best.  Jaipur Avenue is your instant passage to this magical land through an enthralling chai experience you can enjoy anywhere, anytime.   – Jaipur Avenue

Whether you like, love, or (currently) loathe chai tea, I strongly urge you to try Jaipur Avenue’s Chai Tea mixes. This is unlike any Chai Tea Lattes or drinks you’ve had before.  You simply pour the mix into your mug, add boiling water, stir, and escape.  There’s absolutely no need for sweeteners of any kind, milk, creamer, or anything else.  Fact is, adding anything to this remarkable tea mix would be just plain wrong.  Click through any of the links in this post or either of the images below to learn more.

Be sure to watch for my reviews of the other flavors: Vanilla, Cardamom, and Ginger.  Vanilla’s next up. In fact, I find that I’m not doing anything at the moment….

EDIT: Emily (Little Miss “I don’t like Chai Tea“) tried some of the Saffron Chai Tea from Jaipur Avenue yesterday and LOVED it.  She’s coming around and I knew Jaipur Avenue would be the one to make her see the light.
