Making great tea, like most things in life, comes down to a couple of things:
- great tea
- great timing
What better way to make sure each cup (or pot) of tea is perfection than to have a timer nearby? The timers in this post are the coolest ones our tea blog has found. Click through each for more information and, remember, if you’re looking for Christmas gifts for tea lovers on your list… time’s running out.
See what I did there?
The gorgeous, old school beauty above is the British Artifact Tea Break Timer. It just seems right for tea, doesn’t it? Personally I think this “sands through the hour glass timer” is so beautiful, I’m pretty certain I’d use it for 101 things around the house.
This timer is five minutes long – just enough time to steep a good cup of English breakfast tea. The timer’s pewter-shielded flanges date from about 1910; they are the lower half of a Boyd spinning bobbin, part of the original equipment of a Viyella spinning mill in Matlock, Derbyshire, England. Bobbins are spools or reels that hold thread or yarn for spinning, weaving, knitting, sewing or making lace. It measures approximately 5½ʺ x 3½ʺ, but sizes vary slightly due to the unique origins of the bobbins.
The timer, below has a couple of tricks up its sleeve. This is the Tea Thermometer & Timer and the name says it all. Not only will this tea lover’s companion let you know when your tea has finished steeping, it helps ensure your water temperature along the way. All tea drinkers know how vital proper tea temperature is. If the water’s too hot, the tea really isn’t fit to drink (especially green tea).
Here’s something extra special about the Tea Thermometer & Timer… free shipping!
- Unit will indicate when water temperature is in range
- Activate timer button for steep time to brew an ideal pot or cup
- Reads accurately from 16°F to 302°F or -9°C to 150°C
- Beeps and flashes to signal when water hits the target steeping temperature
- Timer beeps and flashes again when perfect steeping time is completed
- Did I mention the free shipping?!
As you can see, either tea timer would be cherished for years by the tea lovers in your life and on your list. Decisions, decisions, decisions!
